In 1974, the late Sidney Metzner and George Sellers III left executive level positions in the scrap metal industry to open their own business.
On the site that was once a 40 acre cornfield, Conservit emerged. Vowing to provide a decent place to work and provide for a beneficial retirement program, the two founders of this company saw to it that their fellow workers enjoyed uncommonly generous employee benefits and an Employee Stock Ownership Program.
Today Conservit is a company that is 100% owned by its employees, and the cost of that ownership is contributed by the company. The stock ownership that each Conservit employee enjoys comes from the company through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. At this time Conservit employs over 50 employee/owners who have worked diligently throughout the years to demonstrate that “quality, service and integrity” are the keys to a successful business.
